M42/M43 Wide Field from Rome, Italy Dwarf MINI - 100x10s - North of M43, Trapezium at bottom, NGC1977 at top. In this post i examine the pareidolia which can cause to interpret random images, or patterns of light and shadow, as faces. It is well described effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia).
Based on the image you will see at the top, between M43 and NGC1977, a dark dust bridge LDN1641 NORTH / OMC-2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LDN_1641). It is a dark molecular cloud located roughly 1,300 light-years away from Earth in the Orion constellation. In visible light, LDN 1641 looks like a giant, mostly empty void of darkness because its dense interstellar dust completely blocks the light of the stars behind it. But now the dwarf mini regarding this region. At low resolution it looked like a hooded face, of course pareidolia no aliens at all:) I outlined the feature with circle.
I checked Hubble/ESO images of the same area: same real dust, fragmented and face is just possible pareidolia at low res. Thus No discovery claim, no illusions, just sharing a curiosity from my balcony. In conclusion, interesting image and surely real dust. No artifacts, just real dust seen differently.
